Title: Vase Paperweight IDENTIFICATION needed
Post by: Lw on December 21, 2014, 10:56:47 AM
Hi...I,m very new to glass and would be very grateful for any help in the identification of this vase.  My local antique shop said it was Murano.  It has a worn sticker on the base 'foreign'.

Not Murano, more likely Japanese. Post war items from Japan and Germany were often labelled Foreign rather than having their country of origin on them.

Have a look through here http://www.glassbudvases.co.uk/

Hi Lw, welcome to the Board.

A "vase on paperweight base" could be of major interest to paperweight collectors if the base was an antique paperweight. But for general "bubbled paperweight base" vases, a better bet for ID is in the main Glass forum.

I have therefore replaced your duplicated post in this forum with the original that you placed in Glass Paperweights, for which Christine gave the reply above.

It is not necessary to use more than forum at a time - even if an item may have features that could belong to more than one forum. When replies are given, and perhaps a firm identification, then a Moderator will move the thread to a new forum as needed.
