Title: Medium squat - multi colour ground - large bubble. ID: ?
Post by: misha on December 31, 2014, 01:50:10 PM
And another...
Medium size @ 95mm D x 60mm H
Deep blue concave ground with applied multi colour flecks - large squat bubble just above ground [lens shape] - small round bubble above.

Interesting piece with the opal like fire effect of ground flecks, but to me it doesn't work so well. The reflections of larger bubble obscure a fair %age of the ground colour flecks and that reflection is of what sits behind the weight.
Also small bubbles entrained when outer clear case applied.... enough to distract and have me consider this an 'apprentice' or 'B' grade piece.

Ground base, no signature or other markings.

Any ideas?  USA or China?  Maybe Australian?

Those colours shout Chinese to me. A base shot is always good for paperweights

Hi Chris,

Not much to show on base, ground flat, no marking at all.
I'll get it out tomorrow and take additional shot like you suggest.... and perhaps I can get the 'entrained bubble' flaw I mentioned.

It's the base finish we always need to see.

OK, how fine a grind or polish that presents?

I'll make a point of getting decent light on the right angle to do so.
Thanks for the tip.
