Hi All,
I have been given a paperweight today by a friend and was wondering if anyone could help with an ID. It has a polished pontil mark and, to my eyes, is well made. It measures approx 2.5" across and 2" high. The base is a mottled purple/blue. I'm in Scotland if that helps with a maker.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers, David

I do believe it is Scottish. I'd stab a guess at Strathearn, but please, wait for confirmation from somebody who can do more than guess. ;D

Thanks Sue,
I'm never sure with paperweights, any Strathearn weights I have had, always had an unpolished pontil, and all have had their stickers still on, which always makes an ID easier!
Hope all is well with you and yours Sue.
Cheers, David

There's a P cane (Perthshire) in the outer ring - most likely a PP5 after 1972 - although there is no image of exactly this setup in the "Guide", but PP5 was produced over many years with quite a few different (though similar) setups.

Yes, so perhaps Perthshire rather than Strathearn. But it LOOKS Strathearn-y. ;)
We're surviving, (have battened down the hatches) - hope you and yours are too! :-*

Thanks Wuff, the one and only thing I knew about paperweights is that sometimes the canes are marked, I was holding it in my hand and still couldn't find it!!!Its even a different colour! Thanks for looking, and the info you have given me. I will know the next time👍
It's definately 4 seasons in a day right now Sue, coffee and a good book, weather😃

Although the very early Perthshires can look a bit like Strathearns, the spokes are usually neat ribbons rather than the white latticino spokes common in Strathearns. Vasart used twisted ribbons for spokes, but these are usually less neat.
