Good evening,
This is my first post so wanted to say hello first ;) I hope I'll be able to help someone one day.
Has anyone idea about this opalescent glass vase? The shape looks almost like ''jelly mould'' :) It has nice opalescence, polished pontil mark and good wear to the base.
Almost 10cm tall and 18cm long.
Thanks
Szymon

Hello and welcome, looks very much like a piece of Walsh glass, B'ham, ;D ;D

Thanks Keith,
You're right it does :) I will have to dig deeper for designs and patterns.

Thank you Keith you managed to solve a similar mystery here - same size, same finish, same pontil treatment and also found in Scotland.

Another that shows how the metal top is likely to have looked: http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,49430.0.html

Glad to help, here's one with a frilly top... ;D

I think this should be referred to as iridescent rather than opalescent. And for the Walsh Walsh range, the term "mother of pearl" would be used.

That's very informative, thanks all for your input. Before you solved this little mystery I was thinking it was Bohemian. To be honest i wasn't familiar with John Walsh's name so I'm happy to learn something new. i must say I quite like the bowl, the iridescence is nice as well as the quality looks good.
