I have this fantastic glass or crystal charger, it weighs 10 pounds!!! It is even signed with a nice big signature on the front, but I'll be darned if I can read it. Anyone familiar with this signature or company? Sure appreciate any help, it's been driving me nuts. It also measures 14" across. Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the message board.
What does it look like if you try and read it from the other side?

I mirrored it and gave up.

Looks worse, this is the correct way.

A really interesting plate. The signature looks sandblasted. I have never seen a sandblasted signature of J. Beranek from Austria, but even the accent is in the right place, confusing.... The charger cutting and scale, looks plausibly 1970's Czech. Bevacause I have never seen a Beranek signature acid etched, I am very cautious and would not commit, but the similarity looks worth mentioning at least. His normal sigature is just scratched on the base of his pieces, but maybe for a bespoke piece, that advertised his signature, maybe he would have put more effort into making the signature decorative. He certainly made some limited edition pieces with Lobmeyr and other places. He left the Czech Republic with a famous master cutter and they both went to Austria....... so it may not be that crazy an idea. If evidence to the contrary is found, I am happy to be totally shot down on this hypothesis!!!!!!!!!

Thank you for that info, but..it is not acid etched but rather embossed on the backside of the piece. I'll do some more research on the name provided and again, Thank you for that info.

Here are a few pics of Jindrich Beranek's signature.
I don't see a strong resemblance I have to admit.
There seems to be an " accent aigu" (if I see it right) on the embossed mark -- maybe French?

As much as I'd like to know the answer, it rally doesn't look like his signature.
