Title: Tazza Bowl I.D.
Post by: BDG55 on January 21, 2015, 08:37:28 PM
I'm interested in bidding on this bowl.  It is listed as Moser, but I'm doubtful.  Does anybody have an idea who the maker might be?

It is up for auction, but the image was found on google which is in the public domain.

The image you have used is not the Google "thumbnail", it is from the actual auction page.

On that basis, it contravenes the GMB policy on use of copyrighted images. I have therefore replaced the image with a link to the auction page.

Thank you.  I thought that if the picture was on Google, I could use the one from the auction which was better.  Sorry.

Google is just a search engine. It's like saying that books in the public library are copyright free

The RESULTS from google, in this case the pictures", are not copyrighted but are, in fact, public domain, so your analogy doesn't fit.  I appreciate your attempt to educate me though.

I'm sorry but the pictures are copyrighted, however you found them. Google just assembles a collection of pictures belonging to numerous people. The pictures are in not necessarily the public domain, i.e., copyright expired, but they are in public view, which is not the same thing at all

My brain is too fried to try to undestand differences between public domain or view and copyright, but I reckon that all images posted should be with their entire context, so that the thing which appears is the original source, including all its credits.

Christine.. Why belabor the point?  If you noticed, on my response to Kevin I said sorry.  He posted the link to the auction, and as far as he was concerned, it was over.  You, on the other hand, seem more concerned in being right and making an issue on something that is already settled.  Typical woman I guess...

No merely trying to explain an issue that crops up here over and over again.

And it's a complicated issue, which Lustrousstone was simply clarifying for the sake of all who read the thread.
There is absolutely no excuse for you to get personal or misogynistic.
