Title: Signature ID Help - Possible Scandinavian Vase. ID = Stombergshytten
Post by: KatW on February 05, 2015, 07:16:17 PM
Hi All -
Hoping someone out there can help - Found a pretty little vase awhile back with etched lillies-of-the-valley on pale blue clear glass. It is signed on the bottom...a signature followed by a possible date (09-84?) followed by a code that appears to read C1573.

Does anyone recognize the signature? I've searched all over but can't find it or the exact vase.
Thanks so much -
Kat

Hello, it looks like Stombergshytten can't help with the code, I think it usually relates to whether it's a vase or bowl, ;D ;D

Keith is correct  -  complex coding for this factory it seems.          The initial letter B is used to signify a vase and the No. 984 (at least that's what it looks like to me) will indicate the year when it was produced.   Unfortunately, my book only goes up to code 974 for 1962, so this one may well be anywhere in the following ten years.   The remainder of the code will be for the engraved design.      The factory suffered a serious fire in 1973, apparently, and was sold to Orrefors in 1976, and closed finally in 1979.
Perhaps if Bill Geary is watching he may know the date for code 984.
