Title: Holmegaard Black Bottle jug Vase ? Scandinavian piece ID help please
Post by: stubbsywubsy on February 10, 2015, 10:42:21 AM
Hello Everyone,
i picked this stylish Vase up at the weekend, knowing in my head it was a Holmegaard piece thinking i had seen it in a reference book somewhere, i know Holmegaard do make this type of Black glass as i have owned it before.

anyway i got home and tried to find a reference to this vase by Holmegaard and cannot find it anywhere, so perhaps my mind is playing tricks on me? i know Riihimaki do a similar shaped one. but the look feel weight and base all point to Holmegaard to me.

i was hoping someone could help me out by telling me the maker of this piece.

thank you in advance
Steven

Not Holmegaard. I'd probably err on the side of 1970s/80s Italian-made Nanny Still knock-off.

Mass produced and retailed through Habitat a number of years ago, some also occasionally seen with a Made in Thailand sticker. Quite often passed off as Nanny Still Koristepullo decorative bottles!

I've seen similar (with properly polished pontil marks!) in TKMaxx, with "Made in China" stickers on them.

A classic and good design - being much copied.
