Title: Mid Century american drinking glass
Post by: number 2 penci on March 08, 2015, 02:41:18 PM
Hello everyone!

I am trying to find out any details about this drinking glass bought at an antique shoppe in Ohio.  I have looked all over ebay, google, bing, and etsy for any matching sets or information, with no success.  All I know is that it is probably American mid-century.  It is a pink glass with a gold and black bird, and the signature "Jaiti".

Any help would be appreciated! :)

Hi,
The word you're looking for is gaîté ( the French word for gaiety). I believe it's from a range by Gay Fad Studios of Lancaster Ohio from the 1950's.
Regards
Nick

I have been looking through Gay Fad glassworks all day, but I have not seen pink drinking glasses by them or any with a similar pattern or signature. I am still unsure if it is from Gay Fad  ???. "Gaite" being French is a great observation.

Thank you for your suggestions Nick!

Hi,
There are some different patterned glasses from the same range here http://www.santafetradingpost.com/gay_fad_2.html#13
They appear to have the same 'gaite' mark. You might ask them for an ID for your particular glass as they seem to specialise in Gay Fad.
Good Luck
Nick
