Title: Very Old Lead Crystal Table Jug!! Help With Origin's and Date Sort Please.
Post by: BRADBURY7308 on March 20, 2015, 03:15:27 PM
Came across a pair of these very heavy lead crystal jugs towards the end of last years car-booting season and have tried to research them but they are a bit unusual for my experience in glass hope the following information may trigger someones memory? They measure 91/4" tall approx 1.7kg very heavy appear to be mould blown in part. Crude polished pontil scar to base and wear like ive never come accross before on both jugs litterally smooth and dull over large areas of the base must be very early but ive never come accross similar? Any views would be welcome thanks for looking.

I don't think lots of wear necessarily equates to lots of age, more like lots of use. They are probably water jugs and may have been used daily or even several times daily. Can we have a picture of the whole base and of the whole jug against a plain dark background; it's very hard to see what is going on
