Post by: DanG on March 28, 2015, 10:41:34 PM
Hello, If anyone has any information about the pictured paperweight, please let me know. It is hand inscribed withe the initials H.O. & date, 05/03/74. Thank you.

Hi, welcome to the GMB.

Personally I am not familiar with this type of weight, or the style of signature / date. However, to me, the script looks like ... "L. O. - 138 - 5. 74" (or perhaps "135" in the middle).

Hopefully somebody will be come along soon who recognises this.

I read L.O. 138 3 74

It looks like it was engraved by someone who is not used to engraving. It looks 'crunchy'. The texture of that signature is more like what I see in fake signatures like a Murano scratched signed 'baccarat'.

Maybe it's by a student just learning to make paperweights.
