Title: "Murano" paperweight with silver foil and 4 complex canes
Post by: rocco on April 12, 2015, 02:45:55 PM
This one has an engraved "Murano" mark to the flat and polished base, but no hint of a maker.

Low dome, 6.5 cm diameter, 3.7 cm high.
Embedded in a layer of stretched silver foil are 4 complex flower canes.

I would think it is really a Murano weight?
Made rather recently?

Thanks for any input :)
Michael

Hi Michael,

I have no doubt it is Murano. However which Murano maker is always a challenge (for me anyway)... The canes make me think that it could be a 3 Fiori weight. Take a look at the Murano project on Alan's (Tropdevin) website:

http://www.pwts.co.uk

There are a few 3 Fiori examples; you will see what I mean.

Thank you very much, Sophie!

Yes, seems likely, particularly the one with the blue background has some similarish canes...

(And there are 3 flowers in each of the complex canes in my weight ;D )
