Post by: bat20 on April 13, 2015, 01:42:44 PM
Hi all, this is a marked 1974 Caithness and I've got a couple of questions about it please,1/by some slim chance is the red disc original to the weight and 2/ I think it's a run of a1000 and it's called water, was a 1000 of each elements made ,or 250 of each, many thanks.

Hi bat20,

1. The red disc is not original to the weight

2. Each element was made in a run of a 1000. In addition to water, these elements were: earth, air and fire.

Hi.  This design was first issued in 1973 in an edition of 1000.  I guess this one was not made until 1974, but was part of that first run of 1000.  The 1989 version (which looks different) was an edition of 250.  I have seen several of these 1973 / 1974 sets, and none had any red disk with them!
