Picked this up today. I think its Bohemian as its a bit gaudy for the stuff we did. Tankard is blown, polished pontil, glasses & bowl no pontils. Frit & enameling all over, especially the tankard which has frit, gold & white even all over the handle. Just want to see if I am on the right track thinking Bohemian. Thanks

not a lot unlike my sugar/finger bowl Ken, in the sense of general decoration with the gilding and frit etc. Outside the world of glass, Bohemia became Czechoslvakia in 1918, apparently, so you're probably correct, although I'm not entirely sure I know what date to put on this type of coloured ware - it might even be further into the C20 than is suggested, but I'm only guessing. The word Bohemia is still used on manufacturers and retailers stickers seen on a lot of glass in the U.K. - maybe it does help sales - I'm ignorant of much of these eastern European styles, other than what I read in books.
If you take away the frit, coloured enamels, then what you get left with is the gilded bands and coloured base glass which were a staple export from the Czech. Novy Bor works of Borske Sklo during the 1950/60 period - although some similar wares are produced in Romania..... obviously 'gaudy' was successful for them.
As with your bowl, mine also lacks a pontil depression - but I prefer cranberry and your set would look good as decoration on a plate rail. ;D

Thanks Paul. Yes its probably difficult to assign a date to much of this Bohemian type of glass...was just checking to see if I was on the right track. Appreciate you looking in. Ken

When I was at the Crystalex factory in Novy Bor in the 90's they were still producing some items very similar to this.
