Hi. Yes - it looks to me like it contains some Ysart Bros canes but it could be later (ie post 1956).

yeah I wasn't too sure if it could be Ysart bros with the pontil being ground out as they did this on their weights, but then the canes look vasart too lol,

I vote for Ysart Bros too (but I get these ID wrong on a regular basis).
Let's see what KevH says.
Nice closepack, by the way.

forgot this pic not that it shows much else

Hi,
This extra picture is really useful as it shows clearly a cane that I found in a Paul Ysart concentric (the yellow with orange center cane at 1 o'clock in your weight and in the centre in mine). It strengthens the Ysart Bros ID, I think.

PS: Sorry for the rather fuzzy picture.

thanks Sophie that's the cane alright , very nice

now confirmed Ysart Bros by Kevin , thanks all ;D oh I forgot to put size in , its 2 and three quarter inches wide and nearly 2 inches high

Yes, I had an email conversation with Gary about this one.
In summary, my view is that this is typically Ysart Brothers period and ties in well with other close pack weights from that period. The canes are a mix of "poorer" and "better" quality which is usually the case with weights that could have been made by Vincent, Augustine or Salvador - but it does not have any canes that would fit with "Salvador personal canes".
Matched Cane?
Sophie's comment about the matched cane is interesting and there certainly are known examples of "shared" canes in "PY" and "Ysart Bros or later" weights. However, the detail shows that this example is not one of them.
The central element differs as does the outer row. In Gary's weight the central element is orange with no outer coating but in Sophie's it is "more red" and has a yellow outer coating. In Gary's the outer row is six yellow canes of the same structure, but in Sophie's it has twelve canes; six yellow-over-clear alternating with six yellow-over-white.
