No, Wayne is wrong. Amethyst wasn't part of the Gay range, the colours for which are Spring (green), Sunshine (amber) and Evergreen.  Hajdamach includes Crystal but the ad doesn't. The finishes were plain, Venetian Ripple, Old English Bullseye and Waterlily.
Unfortunately, the same shapes appear in other colours and the colours appear in other designs.

There is an advert somewhere that shows the Bullseye range in clear, but it was post-1945. I'll see if I can find it.

Gay was basically the colour range in a range of finishes, i.e., a marketing campaign. The finishes and shapes were used with other colours and the colours were used with other shapes and finishes

Thanks very much David & Christine ,

It's all very intriguing, is this shape a mushroom/toadstool ...which I think it is (don't wish to personally  name a design shape  ::) )  , or could it possibly represent  something else do you think.. I've ruled-out a waterlily  ;) ?

I've been Goooooglin' and have seen some 'gay' examples (love the cut, Waterlily pieces !) . Would be very interested to see the  advert. for the  bullseye  , if poss.. :)

Cheers, Mike

AAArgh. (I think I'm permanently signed in to that site, something that was sorted for me at the start.)
Go to the link under Christine's name that says "My Gallery". Click on the image that comes up to enter.
Go to the top bar, click on Search at the top. Enter "evergreen" into the search box.

I love England - apart from the sugar in the porridge.  :P  ;D
Did you get to see the bowl? It's big and it glows like mad.
There's a tool mark on the surface, but it's properly marked. ;D

Getting straight back on to the important topic of mushroom posies,  ;) is the pontil mark a flower shape - because of the shape of the body?

Does the overall shape of a mushroom posy give any indication of a maker?

They're not really my thing, nor is cut glas, but do have a very pretty cut mushroom posy, no marks whatsoever.
It has a somewhat wavy edge, but not created by differing thicknesses of glass as yours seems to be, Mike.

Mushroom posies seem to come in a wide range of shapes, pressed and blown

This one is marked with pontil scar, the middle one of three, 7 inches across, also have one 11 inches and a smaller uranium posy both 'signed' and with pontil marks  ;D

Yes Sue, the polished pontil is in the centre and is very wide in diameter (5cm) . There are 10 very thick & deep ribs to the underside of the cap of the mushroom which extend down the stem and underneath the stem to the base. These ribs (half an inch thick ) have been smoothed out  towards the base of the stem (where it balloons out ) and have been polished  flat (almost ) to the base...hence the star shape to the base.

It's really  a lovely piece, it would be interesting to know the exact date it was made (either pre or post WW2 I would guess)

Thanks for the photo Keith.

Carolyn , you could try Maple Syrup   ;)

Thanks all, very much, for your comments and for having a look ! Cheers, Mike  ;D
