I have 1 large and 2 smaller bowls inherited from my mother. She received them as a wedding gift post WW2, but they were not new. There are no identification marks that I can see. They all have an insert of silver look alike, but not sure what it is. Can anyone identify what the glass heritage may be?

Welcome to the board. Is the pattern cut or pressed? If you don't know, can we have a close up please, preferably against a plain background. You could also make your photos a little larger. You are allowed 120kb per photo, not per post.

I have uploaded some new photographs. I hope they help.
The bowls have 8 facets on the sides. I am not sure if pressed or cut.

Pressed I think. My guess would be American and that here might be a good place to ask http://www.chataboutdg.com/

U.S. Glass Co. ATHENIA/Reverse 44. Pressed Glass around 1912.

Thank you for your help - after all these years it is great to finally find out what the bowls are. Could you also tell me whether the silver look alike is in fact silver, platinum or some other product? The bowls have no blemishes at all and it is difficult to tell.

I've always been of the opinion from quite a few pieces I've examined over the yeasrs is that the decoration is something along the lines of a silver nitrate & ammonia mix not terribly unlike a mirror coating composit as it wears decently even though its obviously thin.
