Title: large studio plate
Post by: aurora on June 03, 2015, 05:12:30 PM
Hello All,

I have found this large unusual studio glass plate or platter today in an antiques centre. It's about 13" diameter and has a slightly iridescent finish and an applied foot. It is signed (and dated 2000). I've attached two images.

Does anyone recognise the design or the signature so that I can put a maker to it?

Thanks in advance,

Richard

Hi, would you kindly rub a little talcum powder (or just some fine flour if you haven't any talc) over the engraved signature to bring it up for taking another photo - I can't make anything out from your image at all, I'm afraid.
Having said that, the work could feasibly be that of Jane Charles, although I don't know if she ever uses an iridescent finish. I can't actually see the finish on the plate, because the light is coming from behind - which brings the colours out really well. :)

Thanks - I'll get a better image of the signature posted as soon as I can.  :)

Hopefully these are better pictures of the signature.

Thanks

 :)
It doesn't seem to read Jane Charles, and I did find a signature of hers in the glass gallery, it was legible.
I'm completely stuck.
