A blue wrythen small glass. I am pretty sure its Georgian maybe about 1800. Look like it could be used as an egg cup, but it may have had a completely different use.
Height 3.25".
Several large white seeds within the glass with lots of wear to base.
Folded lip.
Any thoughts on its being an egg cup or has it another use would be much appreciated.

Nice, what's the width of it,I would imagine it would of had to accommodate various sizes of egg back in the day.

Hi
The internal width is just under 2", a medium egg fits quite nicely in it as I have tried.

The photo plate provided is from the book " COLORED GLASS " by Dereck C. Davis & Kieth Middlemas. Although they do not comment on the photos specifically, these are pictured in the section on Bristol & Stourbridge. Some of the text that may apply to your piece is as follows:
" Other table glass in blue was made at Bristol such as finger bowls, wine glass coolers, cream jugs, sugar bowls and salt cellars. Sometimes the smaller productions were decorated with wrythen moulding".
" A large quantity of small table pieces of rather coarse glass was made at the Stourbridge and also Birmingham factories".
The book was published in 1968. Some information may be dated. It does mention wrythen moulding in the context of Stourbrige as well.
