Title: Identification of Baccarat Drink Dispenser
Post by: Scolada on June 24, 2015, 05:41:47 PM
Hello all,

 I'm a newbie to the forum so a big hello! I'm trying to find out any information on a piece I picked up recently. It's a Baccarat Drink Dispenser (missing the lid unfortunately) but all of my research is coming up with a big fat blank. Would anyone have any information or opinions they could share on this? Age, value, if I could get a lid anywhere, etc? I'd really appreciate it so thanks very much in advance. Here are some pictures;

Hi,
If you look for Baccarat Crystal Caron perfume urns in google images you will see a number of urns similar to your piece.
Regards
Nick

Hi Nick, Thank you so much for those words of wisdom. That's really helped me! Who knew, I thought I'd be sipping lemonade out of it.  :o

Another question if it's not too much trouble. We're missing the lid and the chain with catcher that hangs from the tap and there is some damage to the glass base. Does Baccarat offer any restoration service for a piece like this? I'm sure it would be next to impossible to find any out there. Would you attempt to repair the base? Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I'm afraid I have no knowledge about professional glass repairs other than thinking that it would be fairly expensive. I wouldn't imagine Baccarat would offer this service, but if they do they'll charge a premium plus transportation and insurance. In your shoes I'd get some idea of value first and then consider whether to get the chip ground out or cosmetically repaired nearer home.
Probably the best place to look for a replacement lid and drip catcher is on French websites. Try seeking advice from French perfume bottle collectors or even Caron themselves (they seem to have lots of urns so may have spares or may be able to direct you in the right direction) If you're emailing France, try using Google translate or other online translation software as this will probably improve your chances of help. Best of luck.
Kind regards
Nick
