Hi Mel.
Can you post some pictures of this piece? There is little (or no) evidence as far as I know of any Richardson millefiori pieces before about 1900.

Hi Mel
It looks like a Richardson piece (a broken bottle, with silver top added), but much later than you suggest. Can you photograph the hallmark? The 1832 and 1912 silver hallmarks are very similar. I suspect yours is a 1912 one.

try this one
-
The hallmark reads LW - lion - William 1V head - crown k for Sheffield 1832
-
it has a small foot that stands approx. 5 1/16" and 3 5/8" dia the inkwell is 4 3/8" dia
-
The hallmark photo if too small to see the hallmarks, could you get a close up photo of the hallmarks and post it.
The lid has obviously come off something else, that may have an early date, but the weight is much later.

Hi Mel. I agree with the previous poster that this is a 'marriage' of a broken bottle and some other silver piece - so the hallmark date has nothing to do with the bottle. I have a Richardson bottle base that has had a silver top added to make it look like a pear (mine is not hallmarked).
