Title: Caithness ?? ID = Chinese
Post by: malcmat on July 14, 2015, 08:10:48 PM
Hi, I suspect this weight is Caithness as its so well made with the central flower, no manufactures markings and a polished flat base.
Had a good look at Franks site Scotland glass but could not trace it.
8cm dia and 8.1cm tall.
Thanks in advance
Malc

No mate surprising how many collectors are unaware of this great resource for matching CG weights :)

Looks like a modern Chinese rose to me.

I agree with Mark: modern Chinese.  Caithness rose petals have a smooth edge, whereas the Chinese ones often have two little indentations, as in the one shown above.  See this factory advert (http://www.aliexpress.com/item/hand-made-glass-art-and-craft-paperweight-home-decoration-boy-and-girl-friend-gift-with-cutting/32298029096.html) for a typical example.
