Title: Small trailed glass vase?
Post by: bat20 on July 18, 2015, 05:23:20 PM
Hi all, this 8.5 cm vase has a broken pontil and a continuous textured trail of glass from the pontil to the neck, you can see and feel wear to the trail it sits on,the glass has a nice ring to it but have to admit to not really having a idea if it's old or modern apart from maybe the rim dating it?

Looks like a piece of Victoriana 1880's 90's, I have a fair few with similar bases impossible to date accurately, my Victorian glass collection would give Broadfield house a run for it's money  ;) I love it.

Thanks you two I really like it's subtlety and it reminded me of a modern tumbler I've got with a moulded spiral and similar texture that I've always thought of as Italian or Scandinavian, everyone gets inspiration and build from what has been done before.
