Title: Hi, a while back I inherited 10 wine goblets from my Mother
Post by: robsceramics on July 22, 2015, 04:44:42 PM
Hi, a while back I inherited 10 wine goblets from my Mother. I have looked through the internet but cant find anything similar although the shape is similar to some items which are georgian, but nothing with the twisted goblet. As far as I can remember we never used them at home and I suspect my mother might have inherited them from one of her relatives in North Wales or possibly through my Fathers, Mother who lived in Newport S.Wales. On the other hand they could just be junk (but they seem kinda nice)! Any help appreciated
Thanks

welcome to the glass message board.
No good news I'm afraid. These are recent and made in Egypt. You can tell by the glass quality- it is full of bubbles and impuritues - and the finish of the bottom. Straight broken off pontil mark, too, not neatly polished out.
also, sets of ten rarely survive entirely.
