Title: Pressed glass 'melon rib' piano rest - unknown maker
Post by: Anne E.B. on July 30, 2015, 07:07:07 PM
Any thoughts on this melon rib style pressed glass piano rest would be much appreciated.  It has 9 vertical curved ribs, stands 5cm high, and has a 16 point star on the base.  I haven't seen one like this before, and searches have not brought anything up so far.
TIA :)

hi Anne  -  are you certain this isn't a salt?  -  just a thought.          I can't remember if insulators have stars on the base.

Hi Paul - its definately a piano rest and not an open salt.  The top is very shallow and has the wear associated with piano rests and its a heavy lump.
I'll post another image showing the top and the base tomorrow, when I've resized the images.

Of the seven insulators I have on display, 6 have stars on the base  ;)
