Title: Help Required with Identification of minature paperweight
Post by: jimbo1 on August 01, 2015, 01:25:00 PM
Hi,

I wonder if someone can point me in the right direction with this weight that I picked up a few days ago.

The weight is small - 1.5" accross the bottom and just over .5" high

The base is flat with a slight grove where the cane edge ends, you can feel it with your finger nail.

The colours are orange, lilac, white and red.

I'm thinking old english has it has the feel of the larger ones I own but could be wrong.

All help very much appreciated as allways.

Hi.  I think you are correct with 'Old English'.  The canes are Arculus / Walsh Walsh canes.  Most of the minis like this that I have seen have been cut down bottle stoppers, and the very low dome and way the canes are cut into underneath one this one suggest to me that this is another example.  A nice little item though.

Alan.

Thanks for that Alan, my gut feeling when I bought it was old English but started to doubt myself when researching.
