Title: Sowerby candleholder with RDnumber

Picked this up today with two other pieces of pressed glass.
The RD number is 752847 and stands 180mm high
The thing that caught my eye was a dull sort of violet colour which I thought could be neodym glass ,it does seem to show different colours in natural light and artificial light. It shows a nice green under UV light.
Is this candleholder a common model and is colouring standard for Sowerby?

The colour is sun purpling caused by sitting in sunlight too long. The manganese used to decolorise any impurities in the sand oxidises very slowly in UV(day) light. It is also what causes the glass to fluoresce a dull green under a UV light.

Tim, the candlestick is often seen as part of the Sowerby Tyneside trinket set, and is fairly common.

Although the sets do come in coloured glass, I agree with Christine that what you appear to have is a sun-purpled example of a clear glass candlestick.
