ID? is it WMF? Who is the designer? :)
-
With a course bottom like that probably not wmf.
the word smaragd is Dutch for emerald.

Yes, i thought so too. I've bought the vase in Germany (Oldenburg) that's why i think it's German. It's a nice quality vase, any other ideas?
-
I don't think the base is coarse, Ivo. I think it's been polished flat and is quite scratched with age. There are a whole load of reflections on the surface which make it appear coarse, at first. You need to really peer at the enlarged pic.

I've made a better pic of the bottom. It's flat polished, but quite scratched with age.

This vase is WMF. Designed by Erich Jachmann, 50s to 60s.

Thank you for the link!
But there are so many ebay "myths" which are repeated over and over (and have proved to be wrong here on the board) -- do you know of any reference that the vase was designed by Erich Jachmann for WMF?

Hi Rocco,
yes, I though I did see this vase in a more 'serious' context with another ID. I just searched a little bit but couldn't find it.
I though by my own it is not such a well known designer like Jachmann, more like she or he Kupetz. I am still searching...
