Hi All. I bought this, and although it was labelled as a Clichy, the smooth tube cane at the centre did not look typical of Clichy. The way the leaves have a fold in which the flower stem sits, looks just like all 4 Clichy nosegay weights I have. The dome looks right and the colours look right for a Clichy. I have sort of discounted American, as there are no dew drops between the petals of the flower...... it is the central cane that is throwing me. I cannot find anything like it in my collection or on the net... Help please

Hi Donaldf,
I wouldn't dismiss American. The relatively simple cog cane coupled with the smaller diameter inner row of petals, and the scalloped edged leaves with the "v-shaped" veins looks very Boston & Sandwich.
Kind Regards,
Eric

Hi. Given Eric's comment above, I have looked carefully at John Hawley's book on American paperweights. He shows images of very similar leaves (B&S), similar flowers designs (B&S), and canes quite like the one at the centre of this flower - also Boston & Sandwich. I think he has got it right when he suggests Boston & Sandwich.

Thanks Alan and Eric. I collect French, so unless there was a Boston & Sandwich factory hidden somewhere in the Dordoigne it is going to have to go. Don
