Title: Possibly Webb salts
Post by: Glasslover2015 on September 01, 2015, 12:31:29 PM
Hi!  I recently purchased two salts, description was English Art glass salts w/sterling rims Sheffield England 1885.  These look very similar to a salt in the Ooen Salt Compendium identified as Webb; I see no markings on the glass, wondering what the experts here think?  The gold paint on the base is worn, one is worse than the other, but I think they are gorgeous.  Thanks for any advice.  And can anyone recommend any books on English Art glass?  Thank you!!

In my opinion Webb is highly likely. See also here http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,60408.0.html

Thank you Very much!  I hadn't thought to put them under a black light, will try that tonight!  And that was an interesting discussion, I appreciate it!   Will post a pic under the black light later.....
