Title: Is it Zemek, Mstisov?
Post by: mpako on September 07, 2015, 07:12:04 PM
Hi,
just recently bought nice ashtray but I'm not sure whether it is Zemek, Mstisov glassworks.
Any idea?

If it has blue, green amber and rose bits then yes Mstisov and Zemek, a Rhapsody piece.

If it does not have those four colours like the one in this group photo then we may need to see some more images of yours to be able to help, a photo of the underside would be useful.

Thanks,
No, it's not Rhapsody piece, colors are only blue, green and base is "brown" more like Pizzicato or Hana series.
will try to post additional photos.

Mmm, maybe more Hana Machovska and Romana then?

Basically the same colours in this variation: https://picasaweb.google.com/Johnmj100/CzechGlass#5906726678436895714

I'm in some fight with my PC, so the pictures are not the best ...

BTW - your Rhapsodies are lovely

well, not sure.
true is, that the base color is similar, just two additional colors are used...
attached is ugly picture of 3 Romana pieces taken at exhibition of Mstisov glass in Teplice, Czech republic.
the most left one... is close...

I am fairly certain your bowl is Romana, clearer photos would help. Each photo can be up to 120Kb, with the longest side at about 700 pixels usually works fine.

Same colours, just a different shape.

Just to add to the idea of Glassobssessed, I have certainly seen Romana vases with green like this as well,  unlike the typical/classic red-blue colours it is found in,

Some shape and colour variations, the vases come in a couple of sizes too.

Nice photos Glassobsessed.  I have observed the vases in four sizes. About 15cm about 24cm, 30cm and even one at about 38 or more, possibly a rare display sample. Other vases made by Mstisov occasionally surface in the 38 cm + size too sometimes but I have only ever seen one Romana in that kind of size, great glass from this factory around this time. For general interest of members, there is a great painting of Romana production that exists, reproduced on Jindra's czsklo site somewhere, of this glass being blown, in an article on Mika, who held a senior position there, who designed some ranges for Karlovarske Sklo, including the peacock vase...
