Found this in the Antiques Market in Cardiff today...any ideas as to its purpose...I thought maybe a penny lick ? Its 6cm x 6cm

I thought possibly to do with illuminating spaces somehow (thinking sort of posh pavement light idea - for a roof not a pavement obviously!) but at 6cm it would be very small! I can't think what else it might be other than a part from some type of lamp...   no marks, RD No or the like I guess Angela?
