Title: cut and etched 12 inch crystal vase
Post by: mamacass on September 29, 2015, 01:45:28 AM
Found a lovely hand cut and etched vase at a local auction. I would like to know if there is a way to determine the age and/or maker.  I can find no identifying marks. It is quite heavy and has a lovely ring when struck. It is 12 inches tall, six inches wide and is hexagonal. I am enclosing some images. I believe it to be hand cut as the cuts are not exactly identical and are rather sharp.

Your images are too small to blow up so we can see details; the board creates the thumbnail. You have 125kb per image and four images per post (use the more attachments link below attach). The best way to resize is to make the longest dimension of a cropped high-res picture 700 pixels

Got a closer look at the vase and found a defect in the glass near one of the patterns.  What is this called? How does it happen? Any ideas on the origin of the vase.
The defect is slightly raised and can be seen on the image on the left side between the petals of the pattern.
