Title: Ancient or modern ? A Roman style jug
Post by: rose de verre on October 26, 2015, 10:16:28 PM
Greetings
Here we have an interesting  small about 8 inches high unmarked glass jug or juglet. Clear bubbly soda glass where you can see it which is only on the base as the rest of it is covered in a sandy mineral type deposit. The handle and neck trailing are blue green. There is faint irridescence to the clear glass. These might suggest it was buried. On the other hand I know some of the Murano makers were keen on getting Roman glass effects in the 20thc. The shape seems ok, the pontil is the same as some images of old pieces, but I am pretty much out of my glass comfort zone here, !! Anybody know their Roman from their repro ?
Regards
