Title: Art Nouveau Fine lead crystal vase ID pls - James Powell interest.
Post by: WhatHo! on October 28, 2015, 04:29:32 PM
Hi Guys, can you help me with this pls. It is 8" tall and has a snapped pontil. It is made of the light thin 'tinny' sounding lead crystal like James Powell but I dont think it is by them. The green colour has a brightness to it you do usual see in JP. TIA, cheers Wolfie

Any imperfections within the glass?

Hi John, no imperfections. No bubbles, frit/seed or striations to mention. It looks well finished and of quality to my eye.

Found your nudge on Facebook Wolfie ;)

Interesting item, but, lie you, I doubt Powell. However, I do think British. I have an unknown goblet vase with diamond moulding to the bowl and foot and using the same shape wrythen knop, but with gold leaf in/on. I recognise the foot on your piece, but can't place it at the moment (sorry!).

Thank you Nigel, hope you don't mind me nudging :D . I do not think its Powell either although I'm sure it's of similar quality. I showed it to Mr Loveridge today, he did not know who made it either. He liked it and said, lead crystal, defo made out of a pot colour and not a studio piece. It will be at the National if you would like to view it.
