Title: Vasart, strathearn ......?

Thoughts?  Measures 2.5 inches or 6.4 cm.

I would say this is Vasart based on the way the canes stand above the ground.  My understanding is that Vasart did not have a gory hole for reheating the paperweight, while Strathearn did. 

If I got this wrong, I am sure someone will correct me.

I agree with Allan - an earlier piece than Strathearn.  The complex outer canes look quite early to me.

The outer row canes are indeed earlier (i.e. Ysart Brothers period - or perhaps even 1930s).

Allan's point about the canes being proud of the ground is a valid one. However, "canes standing above the ground" can also apply to many Strathearn weights - although those will normally have a "smoother edge" to the "upper surface of the cane layer" when viewed in profile.
