Title: Cranberry Glass Gilt Saucer
Post by: saj204 on November 05, 2015, 11:04:27 AM
Hi All

I got this little saucer in a mixed lot of glass at an auction. To me the gilding looks really nicely done and far better than the normal bit I see around, although the gilding on the rim is starting to come off.

Cranberry glass isn't really my thing so not really sure where to start looking for an ID for this piece. I am thinking for its size that it would have been a saucer with a cup, which has got separated at some point.

The Saucer is 3 3/4 inches in diameter.

Any help with this piece would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Stephen

Just a quick bump back to the top page. Hopefully some new eyes might help.

My guess would be Bohemian because the raised part under the gilding is yellow. English raised gilding tends to have a brownish under layer
