This beautiful vase 'suffered significant damage' during a childhood game, and was split in two, and then repaired.
It's an Emile Galle vase parlant and sold a few weeks ago for £39000 against an auction estimate of £600-£800 -
I love stories like this. No idea who bought it but it eventually sold to someone in the room, apparently a london based collector according to the second link.
Quote 'Some minutes later, a London-based collector in the room won it at £39,000 - later suggesting it might have made well over £150,000 had it been in perfect condition. '
(Just occasionally I think I'd like to be the kind of collector who could pay £39000 for a vase ;D )

I've not seen a piece of Galle like that before, I'd also like the chance to spend that much, in my dreams, ::) ;D ;D
