Title: Lassman / Vasart Mini Paperweight with Brass Base
Post by: paperweights on November 15, 2015, 10:18:26 PM
On my Lassman & Co web page (http://paperweights.com/paperweights/lassman.htm), I included a picture of a group of paperweight handled items owned by the Lassman family.  One small paperweight with a brass or gold base always puzzled me because I had never been able to acquire one.  Until now.  The paperweight shown below is now in my collection.  It is 1 1/2" diameter, the same size as the barware handles.  I also show the Lassman family picture that I received from Malcolm Lassman about 10 years ago.  Just sharing.

Hi Allan.  The other bar ware . motoring pieces appear to have some function - any idea what this piece was intended to be used for?

According to Malcolm, the family used as a paperweight. :)

More to the point, based on the research that Angela Bowey and I did in preparation for the Vasart article in the PCA Bulletin, it seems likely that all paperweights they received from Pirelli already had a hole drilled in them and maybe also included the  threaded fixture.  It would be just like the Lassman's to create a base for the paperweight if they wanted to keep a few for display or even sell a few this way.
