Title: Walsh Walsh, Stevens and Williams....Northwood Spanish Lace
Post by: Gowdod on November 23, 2015, 08:08:31 PM
Dear All,

could you help identify the vase and bowl? Are they British, I have read of Northwoord Spanish Lace in canary yellow being referred to as made in the UK? The vase is more lilac than blue.

What say you glass messagers?

Yours

Andrew

I don't think your blue vase is either Northwood or Walsh Walsh. It might be a Bohemian look alike

I think your bowl might be Northwood but we need a base shot and a better picture of the pattern. Northwood and Walsh Walsh both made similar patterns in canary yellow. Can we have your pictures the right way round please too.

Christine,

two better pictures added above. I've tried numerous times to rotate them however every time they reload they orientate themselves as you see. Frustrating.

Both vases were bought at the same time and when you hold them they are clearly made by the same manufacturer. Could both be bohemian. The pontil is snapped off on the base as per picture.

Once again any feedback appreciated.

kind regards

Andrew

Northwood "Spanish Lace" (originally called Opaline Brocade, as Harry Northwood adopted Walsh Walsh terminology as readily as he appropriated the pattern!) was made at his plant in Indiana, Pa., USA in the late 1890s. Your photos do not look like any of the characteristic Northwood shapes.
