I bought these as a local swapmeet about 6 months ago.. I thought they looked really cool. Are these ruby glass? I have no idea who the manufacturer is for them; there are no markings on them. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Lori

Hi Lori
Ruby glass is more pink and solid in the mass What you have here is flashed, clear glass with a thin layer of enamel. The colour is achieved using copper, as opposed to ruby which contains gold and is (you guessed it) expensive.
Ruby flash was invented in the early 19th century by a Bohemian company called Egermann - and they still make it today. So do many othr companies.
There is no telling how old these are but the shape look snot old. Also, sets do rarely survive intact, and 4 out of 6 is rare in old glass.
Now go and enjoy googling these, there are tons of pretty ones around.
