Title: Early Studio Glass, probably British ?

I have recently acquired this interesting looking example of  a squarish vase with strong black and red swirls. It came from a seller on that most famous of auction sites, who is selling off an estate of early British Studio glass from part of a collection made in the 1960s and 1970s. The vendor has no information regarding the vase other than the feeling that it it was an early piece.
It is 13.5 cm high and has a broken pontil mark to the base. It is quite primitive looking in its execution but is striking and a bit unusual. I like it!
However it is frustrating to have absolutely no idea from where it may have originated.

Dear Steve,

it has a George Elliott feel about it; may we see picture of the pontil. I assume no fine signature marks to the base?

Hi Andrew,
Definitely no signatures. See pics of broken pontil mark below. There seems to be a square impression there but I guess this is just a mark from the end of the iron rod.
