Title: Large Green Vase - ID sought
Post by: Neil on December 04, 2015, 12:22:58 PM
I am hoping someone may know the maker or country of origin of this vase.
It is quite heavy, but has no markings for ID.
Appreciative of any guidance.

please also indicate measurements, i.e. height and width of upper 'cup' - is it probably a hyacynth/bulb vase?  ;)

Looks a bit 'fat' around the middle to be a bulb vase, but I've alerted Patricia. Dimensions would be helpful in this case.

Neil,
It certainly looks like a bulb vase but height of the vase  and width of the entrance are very important here. Heavy is good, it stops the vase from tumbling over when the flower grows top heavy. Hyacinth vases are rarely signed (oh, if only they were) as they were considered ordinary household glass.
First glance tells me France from the art deco period. You might google 'vase jacinthe' on ebay to see what I mean although you won't find this vase there. I have never seen one like yours and I think it is beautiful. Is it uranium glass, does it glow under UV?
