Hi all, Would appreciate some help in finding out the name of this unmarked piece and around what period it's from/manufacturer. Has a lovely unique design, made of thick glass.
Item is 12 inches long, over 3 inches wide and over 2 inches high.
Weighs 507 grams.
Have uploaded images to here as the maximum small forum file sizes doesn't do them justice!

Can i take the opportunité, and sorry for interrupting the subject, to ask how to shorten hyperlinks please. so a mod doesn't have to do it for me all the time?

Between the quotation marks is your link. If you join up the spaces between the quotation marks your link would be hidden in the word here <a href=" https://www.google.be/search?q=italian+glass+gondola&biw=1440&bih=843&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjqrP25hNTJAhVCQBoKHSWYDM0QsAQIKQ ">here</a>

Sorry I think I got that wrong - ignore me :D

Hi Rabical, welcome to the glass message board. We hope you will have fun here - we do.
The gondola is symbolic for Venice and that is where it is from. As there are and were many manucacturers who churn out gondolas for the tourist industry it will be almost impossible to attribute it to a single glass maker. We usually refer to it as 'generic Muano'. Saying that, there is of course a difference in quality and yours seems to be in the better category. Timewise think anytime since the 1950s.

Anne, I find the following website easiest for shortening urls

Many thanks for your help guys!
And thanks for the warm welcome Ivo :)
Interesting, i thought it looked like a boat, and those kind of boats a are symbol of Venice, makes sense now!
I'm currently trying to sell off the box of ceramics/ornaments that's lying in the cupboard, so it's nice to learn about them along the way :) Can't seem to find this particular model on Worthpoint, i'm making use of the Free Trial lol, so don't know what to value it.

We don't really tend to discuss values here, they're far too subjective.
But one way to get a ball-park figure would be to go to that well-known auction site and plug "venetian gondola ashtray" into the search engine, and then click on the sold listings bit.
I just did that, (I can't understand the instructions on how to shorten the link. ::))

I'm afraid you have not made an unexpected fortune with this.
Maybe next time. ;D
Welcome!

Thanks for that! It'll give me some idea what it's worth, i wasn't expecting masses anyway. I'll put it on for 30 quid and relist my way down until it finds a buyer :D

You can put a link to your auction in the "Market Place" forum here, it might increase your audience. :)

Thanks chopin for pointing out that section, will do just that! :)

Please don't use the link shorteners as many of them stop working after a while, so the link goes dead.

No problem, Christine kindly explained me how to do it without the use of other links.
