Title: Sowerby ‘anvil’ salt, RD 98216 (registered 18 April 1888)
Post by: agincourt17 on December 11, 2015, 01:52:14 PM
Sowerby clear glass salt in the form of an anvil, bearing the embossed registered design number 98216 (registered on 18 April 1888) and the peacock head trademark.

Measures 3 inches x 1.6 inches x 2.25 inches (excluding the pointy bit – which I believe is properly called the ‘beak’, ‘bick’ or ‘horn ').

(Permission for the re-use of these images on the GMB granted by Carol McNally).

So far I have been unable to find this pattern salt in any of the Sowerby pattern books or catalogues.

Has anyone seen a similar Sowerby piece in other colours, please?

Fred.
