Title: Please help ID this glass fish

Hello,

Could you please help me ID this large glass fish.

It measures 12" from tip of mouth to tip of tail fin and then from bottom fin to top fin 7.5".

It weighs 886g.

Is it glass, Rach? it looks more like ceramic from the pictures....

My husband says it is 100% glass

Glass I would think Anne, looks like a relative of my dotty uranium version. My wild guess is victorian in date.

Not a clue, I would have said if I did.

Mine has a sort of hobnail pattern for decoration while yours has a subtle ribbed pattern, have you checked yours with a UV light for uranium content? If they are as old as Victorian determining the maker will be at best difficult.

They could be John Walsh Walsh fish; I spotted some similar ones while browsing through the catalogue pages in Reynolds

Oh well, here's another of the critters! There is a post about this one posted many years ago (the photo was taken in March 2005!), so I'll try and locate it. I did find a link to a Davidson catalogue - cloudglass.com I think - which showed a drawing of a similar fish, but Chris Stewart did not think so.

As an impartial viewer, I would agree with Chris Stewart. The mouth is different, all of the fins are worked in a different way, the body decor is different, the body shape is different. Other than that, they are both fish. :)
