Hi,
Does anyone have any idea about this vase please? I'm struggling to find a match.
It is a smokey grey colour with a heavy clear base.
Weight: 286g
Height: 18cm
Top diameter: 4.4 cm
Base diameter: 5.1 cm
Thanks in advance,
Susan

Sorry! Technologically inept!
Below are the rest of the pics.

Aseda is one possibility, the shape is very similar to this one but yours is smaller and lacks the indented 'spikes' in the base.
A useful set of Aseda photos here: http://www.50-talskeramik.se/2013/09/utstallning-aseda.html
If not Scandinavian maybe German...

Thanks John,
I have been to that site in the past but had forgotten what it was called to search for it again. I've bookmarked it now.
I still can't find an exact match on there though.
I forgot to mention that the top edge of the vase is smooth and slightly rounded.

I'm having no luck with the German lead (although I did identify TWO other vases while I was looking) did you have a particular manufacturer in mind?

Great when that happens. ;D
No particular maker, sorry, just somewhere else to look.

Possibly one of the made for IKEA ranges, see current examples here: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/50280913/
-
Oh dear! That would be a little embarrassing :-[
-
or even for Marks and Spencer, and thus possibly Polish
-
Why embarrassing? IKEA source from various glassmakers including some good Scandinavian ones... and M&S - as Christine says - buy from Poland, but both shops also source in China. It's how these large retail businesses work, and no glassworks is going to turn away business if it brings them a profit... there's no shame in buying any item if you like it. :)

I love Ikea deasign! But embarrassing because I'm a VINTAGE seller! Was forgetting that no-one on here necessarily knows that! :)
-
Ahhhh I see, yes a bit of an oops then if it's contemporary, but then IKEA has been selling glass for many years so we do see older pieces too. :) (IKEA was founded in 1943.)
-
1943! Really! I had no idea.
The trouble is, lots of their new pieces are heavily mid century influenced anyway, so, it could be really hard to determine age/era.
I'll have to scout about online and see if there are any vintage Ikea pages or old catalogues etc. I'm guessing, if it is Ikea, it is most likely to be modern though. I just googled it and Ikea didn't arrive in the UK until 1987, not a guarantee I suppose but it narrows the odds of an older piece here.
Susan
P.S. Just spotted your location Anne. Me too! What are the odds!

I would love to find older IKEA catalogues too, so far all I have bookmarked is a page with 2005 onwards catalogues: http://www.home-designing.com/2008/10/inspirational-ikea-catalogues and a 1965 extract here: https://ikketikketheo.wordpress.com/2009/07/24/ikea-catalog-anno-1965/ - neat eh? :)
I'm in the south of the county, how about you?
-
Aye neat! :)
I found a site with front covers from the fifties to now, also neat but not a great deal of help. http://gizmodo.com/every-ikea-catalog-cover-from-the-past-63-years-1628121028
The style hasn't changed that much.
I'm on the north coast.
