Title: Georgian Salviati maybe?.
Post by: brucebanner on January 24, 2016, 07:42:12 PM
I think this might be the oldest piece of Salviati/Italian glass i have come across, my thinking is the ingrained dirt in the cracks.

Any thoughts?

I would assume circa 1880. I have had a few Victorian era items with dirt like that - think open fires, oil lamps, candles etc all helping to create a sooty environment. The best way to remove those gunge like deposits that I have found so far is with nail varnish remover, a toothbrush will help get into those tricky corners.
