Long, long time no see. I've continued to collect glass, but it seems that paperweight has me stumped. I've had it a few years, but paperweights are most definitely my field and I'd love to try and get an ID for it, if possible. It has a very defined pontil mark and aventurine inclusions (which don't seem to show on the photo.
Most grateful for any help.
Regards,
Della

Yes, "Bohemian" may be as close as can be guessed. But it could also be French.
Peter Von Brackel's book, covering these types of weight, does not show a clear example with such a "solid" white base layer.
For general information, if I see a "5-bubble" weight of this type (discounting the unintentional fifth bubble without a stem), I do consider the possibility of an Ysart source! Paul Ysart certainly made some early (1930s /40s) "harlequin" weights with four outer bubbles.
However, with the stray fifth bubble and the small, but quite high, round pontil mark I then veer off towards the continental European versions.

Thanks, Kev :)

Hi. It might well be from Belgium, or somewhere in Alsace (which may or may not have been a part of France, depending upon when it was made).
