Title: ID request- Blue/Pink Plate
Post by: Thirdtimelucky on February 27, 2016, 03:14:25 PM
Hi all,

Found this plate on an auction site where it was described as end of day piece. No signature or markings. Any insight appreciated.

Height: 2.8m
Diameter: 16.5cm
width of rim: 3.5cm
width of base or girth: about 6.5cm
Weight of piece: 651g

Hi and welcome to the GMB. I can't tell you what it is, or who made it, but it definitely isn't so-called "end-of-day" which is such a misused and inappropriate term. It looks like Studio glass (individually made), slumped and fused. It may be a matter of waiting until somebody recognises the technique. Sorry I can't help further  :-\

It's not slumped or fused; it has a pontil mark

You might want to check for a sig under different light conditions, it looks like a top piece and might just have a very faint one.

Thank you all!

I will have another look for a signature and I am off to google some glass making terms. We are new to appreciating glass and have a lot to learn. :)
